Terms of use
Last change:
These terms are the rules for chadthiele.com. Read them before you use the Site.
Who operates the Site
Chad Thiele operates chadthiele.com. In these terms, “the Site” is chadthiele.com and all its pages. “I” and “me” refer to Chad Thiele.
If you use the Site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
What the Site is
The Site has two parts. The first part shows my work, my résumé and my projects. The second part is Chibi Things.
Chibi Things is a group of small tools and toys. Each tool or toy is a “Thing”. A Thing is an experiment that I make for fun.
A Thing can have errors. I can change a Thing or remove it at any time. Do not use a Thing for work where an error can cause injury or loss.
Accounts
You can use most of the Site without an account. Some Things need an account. An account is free.
To make an account, sign in with a link that the Site sends to your email address. You can also sign in with Google.
Use an email address that is yours. Keep your email account and your devices safe, because they give access to your account on the Site.
You can delete your account on the Account page.
The vault
The vault keeps the keys for your accounts with AI services. You make a vault passphrase to lock it.
I do not have your passphrase and I cannot get it back for you. If you lose it, you must reset the vault. A reset removes the keys in the vault.
The Chibi Crew and payment
The Site does not sell products and does not accept payment.
The Chibi Crew are the people who have a paid subscription to the Chibi Things newsletter on Substack. Substack sells that subscription and collects the payment.
The terms of Substack apply to the price, the payment, cancellation and refunds. For a refund or a problem with a bill, speak to Substack.
Some Things are Crew Things. Only the Crew can open them. The Site does a check to see if the email address of your account has a paid subscription.
When your paid subscription stops, the Crew Things lock. At this time, a gift subscription does not open Crew Things.
Accounts with other services
Some Things use your own account with a different service. An example is OpenRouter, which gives access to AI models.
That service sends you the bill for your use. The terms and the privacy policy of that service apply to your use of it. I do not control that service.
Results from AI
Some Things use AI models to make text. The result can be incorrect or incomplete. Make sure that the result is correct before you use it. You are responsible for how you use it.
Your content
The text and the files that you put into a Thing are yours. I do not claim them.
At this time, Things keep their data in your browser and not on my servers. Your browser can delete that data, for example when you clear the site data. Keep a copy of important content.
Rules for use
Do not do these things:
- Use the Site to do something that the law prohibits.
- Try to get access to an account, a Thing or data that is not yours.
- Try to go around the lock on a Crew Thing.
- Cause damage to the Site, or send so many requests that the Site becomes slow for other people.
- Use the Site to cause harm to other people.
If you do not obey these rules, I can stop your access to the Site.
Ownership
I own the text, the design, the art and the code of the Site, unless a page tells you differently. Other owners keep the rights to their names and marks.
You can use the Site and the Things for yourself, and you can share links to them. Do not copy large parts of the Site or publish them again without my permission.
No warranty
I supply the Site as it is. I do not give a warranty that the Site is correct, that it is applicable to your purpose, or that it is always available.
You use the Site at your own risk. As far as the law permits, I am not liable for loss or damage that your use of the Site causes.
Some laws give you rights that a contract cannot remove. These terms do not remove those rights.
Your data
The privacy page tells you what data the Site collects and who gets it.
Changes to this page
I can change this page. The date at the top shows the last change.
If you use the Site after a change, you agree to the new terms.
